The Virginia Cavaliers are taking on the Iowa State Cyclones tonight in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. The game is being played at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois and it has a start time of 7:10 p.m. (Eastern), where it will be televised nationally on CBS. Currently the Vegas odds for the game have the Cavaliers favored by 5.5 to 6 points to pick up the win.

Virginia has reached this game in each of the past two seasons, but the Hoos were knocked out by Michigan State both chances. Tony Bennett and the Cavaliers can take the next step toward a potential Final Four with a win here over Iowa State, a team that is full of talent but not very deep.

That could be where the Cavaliers have the edge. Virginia is a much deeper team compared to Iowa State, though the Cyclones have one of the best starting fives in all of college basketball. Much like the Oregon/Duke game last night, if Virginia can wear out the Cyclones like the Ducks did to the Blue Devils, there could be a similar result.

Virginia’s beaten both Hampton (81-45) and Butler (77-69) to reach this point. Iowa State won a pair of comfortable games in beating Iona 94-81 and Arkansas-Little Rock 78-61.

Georges Niang has put together a strong tournament through two games, scoring 28 points in both games so far. Against Iona all five Cyclone starters finished in double digits, the game against Little Rock saw just Niang and Matt Thomas reach double figures.

Virginia is considerably better on the defensive end of the floor, which will prove to be the difference tonight.
