The top-seeded North Carolina Tar Heels are taking on the Indiana Hoosiers tonight in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. The game is going to be played inside the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with a 9:57 p.m. start time where it will be televised nationally on TBS. Currently the Vegas odds for the game have the Tar Heels favored to pick up the win and advance.
In a battle of historic programs, tonight the college basketball fans get a chance to watch what should be an excellent matchup here to end the day. Indiana blew out Chattanooga to start the tournament, then found a way to beat Kentucky at its own game in a 73-67 victory. North Carolina had convincing wins over both Florida Gulf Coast and Providence, having another showing like that tonight against Indiana would certainly be something.
At one point this season it looked like North Carolina would be a no-doubt Final Four contender, but conference action and inconsistent play dwindled that a bit. Now the Heels once again look like a formidable force, but Indiana has the horses to play well in a game like this as well.
The Hoosiers have an excellent guard on Yogi Ferrell, he will look to lead Indiana to an impressive win here tonight over a No. 1 seed. The lines on all of these games are fairly small because each team has a good chance to win, but can Indiana avoid lengthy chunks of not being able to score?
UNC boasts one of the more balanced team in the country, they rank inside the Top 12 nationally in both offensive and defensive efficiency numbers. Indiana is Top 10 offensively, but comes in just 57th on the defensive end. That could be where Carolina takes advantage.
The Heels are also huge up front, rebounding will not be easy for Indiana.
