The Gonzaga Bulldogs are taking on the Syracuse Orange tonight in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. The game is being played in the United Center in Chicago, Illinois where it has a 9:40 p.m. start time and will be televised nationally on CBS. Currently the Vegas odds for the game have the Bulldogs favored to pick up the win and advance.

Just tour typical 10-11 matchup in the Sweet 16 here. Both Gonzaga and Syracuse have obviously exceeded expectations to this point, not having Michigan State alive certainly helped Syracuse reach this spot in the tournament. Gonzaga drilled the third-seeded Utah Utes last game out, a game where the Zags shot better than 55 percent, they had four starters in double figures.

Syracuse actually won a pair of lopsided games entering tonight, beating Dayton by 19 in the opening round and Middle Tennessee State by 25 after that. In both games they gave up 51 and 50 points, respectively, as the patented defensive zone proved to be too tough for either team to handle.

Gonzaga comes into tonight’s game as a favorite of a couple possessions, which seems a bit much based on Syracuse’s results in the tournament. The Zags did crush a third seed while Syracuse beat a pair of lesser teams, but the Orange have played well in the underdog role to date.

Even so, the Zags are going to have arguably the two best players on the floor tonight in Kyle Wiltjer and Domantas Sabonis. Syracuse plays a strong 2-3 zone, but Gonzaga consistently getting the ball to either in the middle of the zone could give them a ton of open looks from the perimeter.

The Zags are just a better team and will win tonight.
