The Iowa State Cyclones are hosting the Oklahoma State Cowboys tonight in Big 12 College Basketball action. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPNu. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Cyclones favored by double digits to pick up the win.
Iowa State is 11-9 against the Top 100 RPI teams this season, the Cyclones have been strong at home and are looking to pick up a big win here tonight. They’ve struggled the last month in alternating wins and losses in February, going 4-4 and falling in the conference standings.
Dating back to a loss to West Virginia on Feb. 2, Iowa State has taken care of business in home games with victories over Texas, TCU and Kansas State. This is the final home contest of the year for the Cyclones, one that should see them pick up a comfortable win.
Oklahoma State is a surprising 12-17 on the year, but they have dealt with injuries and inconsistencies all year. The 17 losses is quite a bit, but worth noting that 13 of those losses came to Top 50 RPI teams, many coming in Big 12 play. The Cowboys are young and will get Phil Forte III back next season as well, this time next year could see Oklahoma State as an NCAA Tournament team.
The Cowboys own arguably the most head-scratching win of the college basketball season as well, beating Kansas by 19 points in January. That game was played at home, where Oklahoma State beat only three teams in the Top 150.
The road has not been kind to the Pokes, who have a record of 1-8. The best win came at Auburn in the Big 12 / SEC challenge, it looks like they will have a tough time again tonight.
