The Iowa State Cyclones are hosting the Kansas State Wildcats tonight in Big 12 College Basketball action. The game is scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN2. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Cyclones favored at home by almost double digits to get the win.

Iowa State has one of the best starting lineups in all of college basketball. The biggest negative for the Cyclones this season has been depth, though, and the Big 12 conference season has seen Iowa State get beat up.

The Cyclones should be able to handle Kansas State today if they play an uptempo style of game. Kansas State does not want to play that fast-paced, run all over the court game where they are chasing Cyclone players up and down the floor.

Only Baylor and West Virginia have picked up wins in Ames this season. The Hilton Coliseum magic is something the Cyclones can count on each time they take the floor and it could pay big today. Iowa State has struggled the last dozen games or so, going 7-5 as the season continues to weight heavy on the short bench. They’re also 3-5 the last eight games overall as well, picking up a win here would be beneficial to the team’s confidence and overall resume.

Kansas State has not been good on the road, going 2-7. The only two road wins were over Georgia and TCU, neither of which has the home-court advantage of Iowa State.

The Cyclones are poised for a strong finish to the regular season, which include upcoming games against Oklahoma State and the finale at Kansas. The best way for Iowa State to have success is to win this one tonight.
