The Georgetown Hoyas are hosting the Butler Bulldogs in Big East College Basketball action on Saturday. The game is scheduled for a 12:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on CBS. Currently the betting odds for the game have this one listed as a toss up in what is expected to be a close contest.

Georgetown has not had the type of season wanted by Hoya fans, they enter this contest just 14-14 on the season. Another tough game on the schedule will see them host Butler in this one, the Bulldogs were very strong in the early part of the season but have struggled a bit recently.

Butler enters the game just 6-6 the last 12 games overall, they’ve also dropped two of the last three games, albeit against Xavier and Villanova. This Butler team has the look of an NCAA Tournament team, a win here over a scrappy Georgetown team would help causes as they continue to attempt to have a strong ending to the season.

The resume could use a boost, and if Butler wins this game coupled with the final two against Seton Hall (38) and Marquette (103), it would give them 21 wins, including eight against the Top 100.

Georgetown has lost three in a row and eight of the last 12. A blowout win over St. John’s at home a few weeks back was good for morale, but the Hoyas followed that up with three straight losses in conference play. Georgetown has 10 losses against teams in the Top 50 which make for an OK resume, had they won around half of those they would be a legitimate tournament team. They didn’t win, though, and now have a strong look at the NIT, unless they can somehow win the conference tournament.

Even so, the line on this one appears tricky. Butler has played better basketball for longer stretches this season, but they also have a lot more riding on this game. Georgetown can be comfortable and playing at home for the final time this season could give them an added boost.
