The Oklahoma Sooners are hosting the Oklahoma State Cowboys tonight in Big 12 College Basketball action. The game is scheduled for a 9:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPNu. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Sooners favored by a big margin tonight to pick up the win.
Oklahoma State played Oklahoma tough in the first game of this series, 74-72, earlier this year. That game was played in Stillwater, which gave the Pokes a chance, but tonight they are going to face an uphill battle in Norman.
The Sooners are 12-1 in home games this season, the lone loss came against Kansas recently. The Jayhawks are the only team to beat Oklahoma twice this season, the Sooners will look to keep from dropping a bad game here while hosting a game against a struggling Cowboys squad.
Oklahoma has piled up eight Top 50 RPI wins, they have 12 wins in the Top 100 overall as well. The Sooners have played like the best team in the country at several times this season, tonight they will look to continue the strong 2016 portion of their season. Oklahoma still has a pair of tough games remaining on the schedule against Texas (road) and Baylor, picking up a win here tonight over the Cowboys is a top priority.
Buddy Hield is going to be one of two guys (Denzel Valentine of Michigan State the other) that could earn the national player of the year award. Both guys have garnered a lot of national attention and have gotten their teams to the No. 1 ranking in the country at some point this season. Hield plays well in big games and although tonight’s contest with Oklahoma State isn’t a big game on a national scale, it’s probably the last time Hield and the Sooner seniors will play the rival Cowboys. Hield should have a big game as Oklahoma wins comfortably here at home.
