The Kansas State Wildcats are playing host to the Texas Longhorns in Big 12 College Basketball action tonight. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPNu. Currently the betting odds for the game have this one listed as a pick em, listed to be a close contest.
Baylor just blitzed Texas on its own floor Saturday, the Longhorns now have to hold a key memory and move past that game. The Horns have exceeded expectations in Shaka Smart’s first season but they are 3-5 on the road this year as well. Texas needs a strong road win, which they have been able to do three times this year, but picking up another would benefit the overall resume. The Horns already beat Kansas State in Austin earlier this season, but that contest was close as the Wildcats have been playing quality opponents tough.
Texas has played a pretty tough schedule to date, it’s been the fourth-toughest in the country and the last four games have come against Oklahoma, Iowa State, West Virginia and Baylor, a stretch where the Longhorns went just 1-3 with the lone win coming over the Mountaineers.
The Horns are sixth in the conference with the 8-6 record, Kansas State has just four victories in the Big 12 this season but they have beaten both Oklahoma and Texas Tech in Manhattan. This game could come down to the play of the Texas guards. Isaiah Taylor could be the best overall player on the floor and Javan Felix could play a pivotal role by knocking down a couple of triples in the second half.
Texas needs a win and they are the better overall team. It’s tough to win on the road in conference play, but the Longhorns get it done tonight.
