One of five ranked matchups on the day, the North Carolina Tar Heels are hosting the Miami Hurricanes this afternoon in ACC College basketball action. The game is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on CBS. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Tar Heels favored to pick up the win in this conference matchup.

North Carolina is coming off a tough home loss to Duke in a game where they looked like they were going to win late. A botched last possession without a timeout and a bad look at the rim put the Tar Heels in a bad spot, the end result was a home loss to rival Duke. Now the Tar Heels have to find a way to regroup, because Miami is good enough to roll into Chapel Hill and head home with a win.

The Hurricanes come into today’s game with the seventh-best RPI in the country. They have one bad loss to Northeastern on the schedule, other than that the resume is one of the best in college basketball — Miami has seven Top 50 wins, albeit six of them have come at home. The losses have all been games where the Hurricanes were at least IN the game as well, but close defeats aren’t what Miami is looking for. The Hurricanes are an above-average 5-3 in road contests this season, but the best road win came at Florida State last week. Miami does come into tonight’s game winners of five straight, they also own eight wins the last nine contests overall, including three road wins.

Carolina has to get past Duke, because allowing the Blue Devils to beat them twice won’t do them any good. UNC has a great resume themselves and Duke is the only opposing team to win in Chapel Hill this year. Outside of that North Carolina owns 13 wins at home.

The Tar Heels are one of the more talented teams in the country, Miami is one of the lesser-known great teams in America. This has the making of a solid game, but the front court for North Carolina should be able to control the game and give them a strong win at home.
