The Kentucky Wildcats are on the road in SEC College Basketball action on Saturday, taking on the South Carolina Gamecocks. The game is scheduled for a 12:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Wildcats favored in what is expected to be a toss-up game.

South Carolina was the final team to be dealt a loss this season, because of that the Gamecocks remain atop the SEC standings, tied with Kentucky and LSU with 8-3 records.

Obviously that makes this a major contest. The 21 wins for South Carolina is one of the best in all of college hoops and they are tied with a handful of teams with those 21 wins. Only Maryland and Chattanooga have 22 victories on the season, but a win here would allow the Gamecocks to join that small group.

Kentucky has absolutely struggled on the road this season. The Wildcats are only 2-5 away from home, three of those road losses came in the conference in losses to LSU, Auburn and Tennessee. South Carolina comes in with an RPI of 22, it would surely be a nice road win for the Wildcats if they can get it done.

South Carolina is 12-0 in home games this season, a win here over Kentucky would give them a fourth Top 25 RPI win. The resume for both schools this season is strong, but gaining a win for either squad in the final handful of conference games would be huge.

The Gamecocks are 9-3 the last 12, Kentucky comes in 8-4 in its last 12. This win, even at home, would be the best RPI win for South Carolina all season. It’s going to be a close contest, but Kentucky’s road struggles and the Gamecocks impressive home record give them an edge.
