The Iowa State Cyclones are hosting the West Virginia Mountaineers tonight in Top 25 College Basketball action. The game is scheduled for a 9:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN2. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Cyclones favored in what should be a solid contest tonight.

Iowa State and West Virginia have both been up and down this season. Each team has found itself in the Top 10 nationally according to the rankings, now both are still ranked but a bit lower than earlier this year. Both teams still rank inside the Top 15 and this contest is a big one for the Big 12 standings.

West Virginia is tied with a 6-2 record in league play with Oklahoma. Baylor, Texas, Kansas and Iowa State each have three losses on the campaign, making this a big game for overall conference positioning.

The Cyclones don’t lose often at home. Hilton Magic is real and in the two most recent games Iowa State has beaten top-ranked Oklahoma and fourth-ranked Kansas. The Cyclones are coming off a loss at fifth-ranked Texas A&M from Saturday, but they should be ready to go in this one. It can be tough playing in the Saturday/Monday slot for the Big 12, but Iowa State is at home for this one. West Virginia had to travel, which could prove to be a factor.

The Mountaineers are playing without Jonathan Holton again in this one, he really helps West Virginia get their press defense together and without him, they aren’t the same team. That will play a big role in tonight’s game as Iowa State proves to be too much offensively.
