The Maryland Terrapins are hosting the Iowa Hawkeyes tonight in Big Ten College Basketball action. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Terps listed as the favorite to pick up the win at home.

Maryland and Iowa both find themselves ranked in the Top 10 nationally. Iowa has been a big surprise this season at 16-3, the Hawkeyes sit in the No. 3 ranking and are catching points tonight at Maryland, proving that it’s tough to win on the road in conference play.

The Terps will be looking to slow Iowa down. Jarrod Uthoff is a potential player of the year candidate, he’s averaging 19 points per contest and could prove to be a tough matchup for Maryland. He has an excellent counterpart in Peter Jok, who scored 23 points in a win at Michigan State two weeks back.

The Hawkeyes come in having won nine straight games, Maryland comes in having won 11 of 13 games. The Terps just lost a road battle at Michigan State on Saturday, having to play Iowa in the very next game is tough, but they are favored here.

The Terps have an advantage at point guard with Melo Trimble, he will have to lead his team without turnovers tonight. Iowa has five wins against teams in the Top 25 this season, which is best in the country, and they do so by taking advantage of the other team’s mistakes. It’s worth noting that Maryland has won all nine games coming off a loss the past two years, but this game will be the toughest.

Neither team is excellent at rebounding, that could prove to be a big key tonight. For the year Iowa has been out-rebounded by 1.3 per contest, which ranks ninth in the conference.
