The South Carolina Gamecocks are playing host to the Mississippi State Bulldogs tonight in SEC college basketball action. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on the SEC Network. Currently the betting odds for the game tonight have South Carolina favored to pick up the home victory.
South Carolina surprisingly was one of the final two unbeaten teams in college basketball this season. It didn’t help them much in the rankings though, the Gamecocks are 22nd in the newest coaches poll but could get a boost with some winnable games upcoming this week. Mississippi State has the worst RPI of any team in the SEC this season and the 8-10 record is tied with Missouri for the fewest in the conference as well.
Playing at South Carolina will also be a problem for the Bulldogs. South Carolina is 10-0 on its own floor this season and Mississippi State has six losses already this season against Top 50 RPI teams, this would just be another loss on the schedule for a team that just isn't ready to compete nightly in the SEC.
This year's Gamecocks have five players averaging in double figures, the offensive balance will prove to be too much for a Bulldog team that is 0-5 on the road this season. Mississippi State is led by Gavin Ware and his 16 points per game, they have three other guys averaging double figures per game as well.
Mississippi State should have some confidence going here after beating Ole Miss to end a five-game conference losing streak. South Carolina is coming off a loss at Tennessee, they are playing at home and nobody has beaten them there yet this season.
