The Houston Cougars are taking on the Florida State Seminoles in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl. The game is scheduled for a 12:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Seminoles favored to pick up the victory in what could be a close contest.
Florida State will be playing without Everett Golson in this one, his college career has come to a close for personal reasons. Jimbo Fisher and the Seminoles should be just fine with Sean Maguire calling the shots, though. Maguire has been in the system and had helped lead the Noles to four wins the last five games, the lone loss come to top-ranked Clemson in what was still a close game.
Dalvin Cook is one of the best running backs in the country, he ran for better than 1,650 yards and has 18 touchdowns on the season. Houston was one of the better defenses against the run all year, ranking 12th in the country in allowing only 116 yards on the ground per game to opponents. That will certainly be a key matchup in this game.
Houston has a solid back in Kenneth Farrow, he is expected to be back on the field after dealing with an ankle injury. Both he and quarterback Greg Ward Jr. pose a problem for Florida State with their electricity, but the Seminoles are fast on the defense side of the football. Team speed is nothing new for Florida State and it will play a major role in this game against a Cougars team looking to get the ball to its playmakers in space, especially Demarcus Ayers.
Houston won the American Athletic Conference this season, but Florida State will clearly be the best team they have played all season. The Seminoles are better on both sides of the football and if they get an early lead, they can work with the ground game of Cook, even against a good Houston defense.
