Texas Bowl LSU Tigers vs Texas Tech Red Raiders Start Time, Betting Odds, Free Pick

The LSU Tigers are taking on the Texas Tech Red Raiders in the AdvoCare V100 Texas Bowl Tuesday night. The game is scheduled for a 9:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Tigers favored to pick up the victory in this one.

Texas Tech struggled most of the season to keep other teams out of the end zone. The Red Raiders won their final two games over Kansas State and Texas, they surrendered 93 points in those two games but still came out on top. Texas Tech dropped five games this season, all of which came to teams in both games — TCU, Baylor, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and West Virginia. Those teams averaged 56.4 points per game in the wins over Texas Tech, the lowest point total was 31 by West Virginia.

LSU piled up seven straight victories to start the season, but they lost three straight games to Alabama, Arkansas and Ole Miss where the offense looked pedestrian. The Tigers have one of the best talents in the country in Leonard Fournette, he was a Heisman Trophy candidate for most of the season until LSU started losing games. For what it’s worth he finished sixth overall in the trophy’s voting.

Texas Tech was one of the best passing offenses in the country this season, they averaged better than 389 yards per game with Patrick Mahomes leading the way. He threw 32 touchdowns on the season and ran for 10 more on the ground. DeAndre Washington is a 1,500-yard back that gives Texas Tech a change in the offense.

LSU’s defense will be one of the best Texas Tech has seen all season, the speed of the Tigers on that side of the football will make a major impact on this one.

The Tigers are a run-based offense and the quarterback position is mediocre, but as long as Brandon Harris doesn’t turn it over, LSU should be fine. This one should be a great matchup, if the Tiger defense is motivated they will have the biggest impact on the game. Even so, Texas Tech can score.
