The Wisconsin Badgers are hosting the Northwestern Wildcats in Big Ten College Football action on Saturday. The game is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on the Big Ten Network. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Badgers favored to pick up the victory in this one at home in double-digit fashion.
Wisconsin is laying double digits over Northwestern in this one. The Wildcats are actually ranked higher than the Badgers, but Wisconsin sits atop them in the Big Ten West standings. Neither team will be playing in the conference title game as long as Iowa continues to win, but this game is still a big one for bowl implications.
The Badgers come into this game having won five straight, they also have won five of their six home games to date as well. Northwestern is also playing well under Pat Fitzgerald, winners of three straight games overall and they find themselves 2-1 in road games this year. With seven home games to date, the Wildcats really have been accustomed to playing in their own atmosphere.
Problem is, Northwestern has been out-scored by 30 points in Big Ten action this season, though they were hammered 38-0 by Michigan. In their two other road games Northwestern beat Duke in a low-scoring affair and Nebraska in a close contest.
Corey Clement is expected to miss this game again for Wisconsin. Without him the Badgers have not been a great running team, though Dare Ogunbowale and Taiwan Deal have been serviceable in their time. Joel Stave has also played well at quarterback for Wisconsin, but the Badger offense will have some problems with the Northwestern defense.
If the Wildcats can move the football with QB Clayton Thorson and Justin Jackson out of the backfield, they should be able to keep within double digits with a solid defensive effort.
