The top-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes are on the road in Big Ten Football action tonight, taking on the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. The game is scheduled for an 8:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ABC. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Buckeyes favored to pick up the victory.
Ohio State should have no problems beating up on lowly Rutgers, but conference road games are tough in college football. The Buckeyes finally figured out that J.T. Barrett is the best option for them at the quarterback position; he gives them a great chance to consistently move the football and that will be the norm tonight against Rutgers.
Ezekiel Elliott has been the man for Ohio State as well, he should get a ton of carries tonight. Elliott is nearing the 1,000-yard mark so far this year with 11 touchdowns on the ground and he’s gone over the century mark in every game. Rutgers is actually a decent team against the run, though.
The Scarlet Knights surrender 126.2 yards per game to rushing opponents, which ranks 30th in the country. That unit is going to have to be a strength for Rutgers tonight to keep them in the game.
Rutgers really has nothing left to play for, it’s going to take a titanic effort for them to even hang around in this one. The Scarlet Knights are 1-2 in the Big Ten and another loss would just keep them from getting anything done this year. It would be nice to see them keep this close and give the Buckeyes a scare. Probably won’t happen.
