The Alabama Crimson Tide and Tennessee Volunteers take to the field Saturday in SEC College Football action. The game is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on CBS. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Crimson Tide favored by a comfortable margin to pick up the win.
Alabama just picked up a comfortable win over Texas A&M last week, but three of the Crimson Tide’s touchdowns came on interception returns. Alabama has the ability to crush anybody, but Tennessee has shown some improvements. Even so, the Volunteers have three losses by a combined 12 points.
The victory over Georgia last week was huge for Butch Jones’ team, the Vols out-scored the Bulldogs 21-7 in the second half to pick up a season-saving victory.
Tennessee’s schedule includes winnable games the rest of the season, even with a loss in this one they still have a chance to make a bowl game.
Josh Dobbs needs to have a big game for the Vols to hang around here. He’s coming off a huge game against Georgia with 420 yards of total offense; if he turns it over against the Crimson Tide it’s going to be a tough game for the Vols.
Derrick Henry has helped the Crimson Tide be a potent offense despite having some inconsistency at quarterback. Henry has posted 900 yards and 12 touchdowns on the year, he’s going to get a big load of carries in this one. Overall Tennessee is giving up an average of 443 yards per game to opponents this season, if Alabama is efficient they should be able to string together drives and score points.
Tennessee hasn’t won in Tuscaloosa since the 2003 season, but Jones and the Vols have had an extra week to prepare for this one. Alabama will win, but Tennessee will play well enough to stay within the spread.
