The San Diego Chargers welcome in the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night Football this evening. The game is scheduled for an 8:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Chargers favored to pick up the win in this contest.

In a battle of AFC teams, the Chargers on the surface look to be better equipped for a win tonight. Mike Vick can still be a serviceable quarterback, but Pittsburgh will not be a serious threat until Ben Roethlisberger comes back from injury. Having one of the best backs in the league helps, but Vick does not give Pittsburgh a serious passing game that can help alleviate the defensive front sevens that are keying on Le'Veon Bell.

San Diego is a very good team in home games, already winning both of those occurrences this season. Phillip Rivers had a huge game against Cleveland last week, tossing for 358 yards against those Browns, pitching three touchdowns as well. Rivers still has battled interceptions this season, as he has his entire career, but he is primed for a big game tonight.

Rivers and the Bolts haven't been covering the number in the past, going just 3-12 against the spread the last 15 games overall. Pittsburgh's defense will look to blitz Rivers, who has actually done well in that position this season. 

Pittsburgh's defense has played well enough to have them at 4-0, but close losses to New England and Baltimore have them at .500 for the year. The Steelers have a tough game next week against Arizona plus follow up contests against Kansas City and Cincinnati, the schedule is going to be tough and Pittsburgh could be in trouble until Roethlisberger comes back.

A firm diet of Bell is what San Diego will get tonight. San Diego is going to have to play well offensively to cover the number, Rivers cannot turn it over.
