The Los Angeles Dodgers are on the road tonight in Major League Baseball Playoff action, taking on the New York Mets. The game is scheduled for a 8:37 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on TBS. Currently the Major League Baseball Odds for the game have the Mets as the solid favorite to get the job done.
Matt Harvey gets his first start of the post season, taking on a Dodgers team that split with the Mets in Los Angeles. There's been a lot of talk about the Chase Utley/Ruben Tejada situation that happened in Game 2, ultimately Utley was suspended for two games. That could prove to be a big factor in the series, Utley has some pretty solid numbers against Harvey in his career, going 6-for-18 with a double and a home run.
The Mets are looking to close out this series at home, so picking up a victory with Harvey on the mound at home looks like a good way to start. Harvey won 13 games this season, eight of which came at home over 17 starts. The young righty had an impressive 2.23 ERA over 113 innings at Citi Field, striking out 116 in that time. Current Dodgers do have some success against him, though, hitting a combined .286 against Harvey over 91 at bats. Jimmy Rollins has homered twice while Joc Pederson and Adrian Gonzalez also have gone deep against him.
Los Angeles counters with lefty Brett Anderson. He won 10 games this season and had a decent ERA of 3.69, pitching much better on the road. Anderson made 15 starts away from home this season, going 7-4 with a 3.07 ERA in 88 innings pitched. Current Mets have a .240 average against him in 25 limited at bats, Curtis Granderson has five hits (including a home run) in 12 at bats.
It's going to be tough to beat the Mets tonight, especially with Harvey on the mound. New York did what it needed to be splitting in Los Angeles, now they look to win the next two. Having Harvey throwing tonight is certainly a plus for New York.
