A Top 25 battle in the Big 12 takes place on Saturday when the No. 15 Oklahoma Sooners host the No. 23 West Virginia Mountaineers in college football. The game is scheduled for a noon start time and it will be televised nationally on FOX Sports 1. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Sooners favored by a touchdown to pick up the win.
Nice early-season conference clash here as the high-scoring Mountaineers head to Norman with the defense looking to come home with a win. West Virginia is only allowing just over seven points a game to opponents this season, shutting out Georgia Southern and holding Maryland to just six points last week — only Liberty reached double digits with 17 points in the second week of the season. That schedule is very soft and the first road game, at Oklahoma, should tell us whether or not West Virginia is going to be any good this season.
The Sooners, also 3-0 on the season, picked up a great win at Tennessee in the second week of the year, coming from down double digits to beat the Volunteers. Oklahoma has also been a very nice offensive team to date, averaging better than r41 points per game led by Baker Mayfield, the Texas Tech transfer that has thrown for better than 1,000 yards and 10 scores this season. Both of Mayfield’s interceptions on the year came at Tennessee, he’s thrown seven touchdowns at home while completing better than 77 percent of his passes in those games as well.
West Virginia has not trailed yet this season, but that will change in this one. Oklahoma will hand it off to Samaje Perine, Mayfield will pitch it to Sterling Shepard and roll the Mountaineers, who have played nobody to date.
