The Seattle Seahawks are on the road to begin their NFL season this year, taking on the St. Louis Rams on Sunday. The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on FOX. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Seahawks favored by just over a field goal to get the win.

The defending NFC champion Seattle Seahawks are on the road today, taking on a St. Louis team that could be a potential playoff squad. Seattle gave QB Russell Wilson a huge new contract, which no longer makes him the humble young guy that isn’t making a ton of money. How will Wilson’s mentality change, if at all?

The Seahawks will still like running the football with Marshawn Lynch, they also added veteran tailback Fred Jackson to the stable as well. The tailback position should be one of strength yet again for Seattle and running behind that offensive line against a tough Rams front seven could be tough.

Seattle has failed to cover the number in four of the last six games against the Rams. They’re only favored by a little more than a field goal in this one, which means this game could be close. The Rams are probably going to be without two of their top three running backs in Tre Mason and Todd Gurley, meaning Benjamin Cunningham should get quite a few carries in this one. That could be good news for Seattle’s defense, but note that Cunningham does have an average of 4.5 yards per carry for his career. The Rams, under quarterback Nick Foles, also will need to rely on tight end Jared Cook in short yardage situations as well.

The Rams beat Seattle in St. Louis last year, the Seahawks should be more focused because of that. This one feels like a field goal type game and with two solid defenses possessions will be at a premium. Could the absence of Kam Chancellor make a huge difference for Seattle?
