The New York Jets and New York Giants meet on the gridiron this afternoon in NFL Preseason Football action. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised live in both markets. Currently the odds for the game have the Giants favored to pick up the win at home.
Both the Jets and Giants enter tonight's game with 1-1 records. The Giants have their quarterback in Eli Manning, but the Jets seem to have a bunch of options at the signal-caller position. They might not feel entirely comfortable with Geno Smith, and he's going to be out for awhile anyway with that broken jaw, but just who is Todd Bowles going to end up giving the football to on a regular basis?
Ryan Fitzpatrick, Bryce Petty and Matt Flynn should all see snaps tonight. One of them should be able to distance themselves and become a starter for the Jets in Smith's absence, but it's unlikely any of them will make the Jets a playoff team. At the tailback position the Jets only have a select few players as well, but there is some talent there. Chris Ivory, Bilal Powell and Zac Stacy combined for 18 carries against Atlanta last week, Ivory found the end zone. The three of them could make for a very nice trio of backs heading into the regular season. Expect them all to play tonight.
The Giants beat Jacksonville last week, but Manning did not look good. Ryan Nassib played well in relief and a ton of players got carries out of the backfield while 11 different receivers caught passes as well.
Both teams have a lot to work on before the regular season opener. The Giants are the listed home team in this game and Nassib is a solid backup that should see a bunch of time. There's just too much going on with the Jets to take them as a team that is going to figure it out.

Vegas betting expert Steve Fezzik doesn’t expect the bad situation in Oakland to get much better this season. This AFC West team may have some improvements in terms of personnel, but Jack Del Rio is the latest in a carousel of ever-changing mediocre coaches, and Fezzik doesn’t expect he is the guy to turn this team around. He also thinks people are overstating Derek Carr’s abilities at quarterback, as he may do well in the fourth quarter, but his numbers are padded with garbage time performance.
