NFL Preseason Football Dallas Cowboys at San Diego Chargers Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

The San Diego Chargers welcome in the Dallas Cowboys in preseason NFL Football action tonight. The game is scheduled for an 10:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on the NFL Network. The Chargers are favored by about a field goal in this one to pick up the win at home.

San Diego is one of the sexy picks to potentially make a Super Bowl run this season. Phillip Rivers is still waiting to get paid, the Chargers are dragging their feet and it looks like he is going to head into this season without a contract extension. The Chargers seem willing enough to let it ride this season, but let's not forget what happened with Joe Flacco and the Baltimore Ravens. Flacco led the birds all the way to the Super Bowl title and then Baltimore had no choice but to overpay.

That's not to say the Chargers are going to win the ultimate prize in football, but if Rivers is going to be their guy moving forward why not sign him now? Either way it looks like Rivers is looking to just get out on the football field right now. He believes the Chargers are a legitimate threat, but if that's true he is going to have to improve on his interception throwing, something that has plagued him in his career. Rivers, in nine years of starting for the Chargers, has seven seasons of double-digit interceptions.

Dallas is always a lightning rod for attention. Jason Garrett's team needs to figure it out this season as Tony Romo is only getting older and Dez Bryant finally got paid. The defense was not good last season and certainly will have to improve. The Cowboys made it to the NFC Divisional Round last season and probably should have beaten the Packers, except for a rule. Bryant caught the football, but wasn't able to hold it through the process and thus, the Cowboys lost. This year they're looking to get better on both sides of the football and be able to succeed where in the past they have fallen.

But the Cowboys didn't feel like paying DeMarco Murray, so he left town. For the rivals Eagles, by the way. Instead of signing the league's top yardage back they're going with a re-tread of Darren McFadden. He probably won't play tonight as he's been banged up in camp, meaning Lance Dunbar and Joseph Randle should get the bulk of the carries.

Like many of these opening preseason games, points will probably be at a premium

Movie Oakland Raiders: 2015 NFL Free Picks & Betting Odds

Vegas betting expert Steve Fezzik doesn’t expect the bad situation in Oakland to get much better this season. This AFC West team may have some improvements in terms of personnel, but Jack Del Rio is the latest in a carousel of ever-changing mediocre coaches, and Fezzik doesn’t expect he is the guy to turn this team around. He also thinks people are overstating Derek Carr’s abilities at quarterback, as he may do well in the fourth quarter, but his numbers are padded with garbage time performance.
