FIFA Women's World Cup Betting Odds United States vs Japan

The FIFA Women's World Cup Finals takes place this evening when defending champion Japan takes on the United States to finish as champions. The match is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on FOX. Currently the betting odds for the match have the Japanese favored to pick up the win and finish the World Cup as repeat champions.

United States vs. Japan Betting Odds

Spread Moneyline Total Goals

United States

  +0.5, +1 (-120)  +425 OVER 2 (+110)
Japan  -0.5, -1 (+100)  -130 UNDER 2 (-130)
Draw    +250

The odds on this match are certainly interesting. While Japan is the defending World Cup champions, they seem to be getting the most attention in this matchup despite the Americans playing extremely well through this portion of the tournament.

Japan and the United States will play in the 52nd match this World Cup. The match is taking place in BC Place in Vancouver, both teams should have a very solid backing inside the stadium. For whatever reason the Americans are drawing a lot of value in this match. They've surrendered just one goal in their World Cup to date and it came in the first half of their first match back against Australia. Since then the defense has been unstoppable and Hope Solo has played very well in net.

There will be a lot of star power on the pitch tonight. Each teams have solid players up front and the Americans will be relying on Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe to make a big impact. Japan has allowed a goal in two of their three World Cup knockout stage matches to date, surrendering one each against Netherlands and England. Had the English not scored an own goal in stoppage time against them in their last match, Japan might not even be in this position.

Both squads have pressure, but a victory for the Americans would make them the first country to have three Women's World Cup titles. They'll play a great match here tonight and if they score first, it obviously gives them a big advantage. We'll back the Americans and the value here.
