FIFA Women's World Cup Semifinal Japan vs England Start Time

The FIFA Women's World Cup Semifinals continues this evening when Japan takes on England for the right to take on the United States in the World Cup Finals. The match is scheduled for an 7:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on FOX Sports 1. Currently the betting odds for the match have the Japanese favored to pick up the win and advance to the World Cup Finals.

Japan vs. England Betting Odds

Spread Moneyline Total Goals

Japan

 pk, -0.5 (-118)  +107 OVER 1.5, 2 (-125)
England  pk, +0.5 (-102)  +230 UNDER 1.5, 2 (+105)
Draw    +220

Japan, the reigning World Cup title holders, look to get back to the finals to once again play the Americans. This Japanese team has looked very solid on the defensive end of the field, allowing just one tally in group play and one goal to the Netherlands in the opening round of knockouts. That defensive effort will continue to make it tough on opponents, especially once Japan gets a lead and then focuses completely on possession.

England beat the host Canada team 2-1 in the quarterfinals, prior to that they knocked off Norway in the opening knockout stage. They outscored opponents just 4-3 in group stage play, but have doubled up both opponents in the knockouts and will look to grab an early tally in this one.

This should be a match that is lower-scoring, as well. Both teams play well on the defensive end and it could come down to a mistake. In the United States/Germany matchup on Tuesday the Americans scored on a penalty kick that some deemed questionable, but with human error those types of things are going to occur. The Americans went on to score an insurance tally anyway, but let's also not forget Germany missed a PK of its own in the second half.

Tonight should be a slower-style pace, the team that scores first could win. We'll take Japan.
