FIFA Women's World Cup Semifinals United States vs Germany Start Time

The FIFA Women's World Cup Semifinals begin this evening when the top two teams in the world face off as the United States takes on Germany in the second matc. The match is scheduled for an 7:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on FOX. Currently the betting odds for the match have the Germans favored to pick up the win and advance to the World Cup Finals.

United States vs. Germany Betting Odds

Spread Moneyline Total Goals

United States

 pk (+105)  +175 OVER 2, 2.5 (+110)
Germany  pk (-125)  +150 UNDER 2, 2.5 (-130)
Draw    +220

This is the match everyone wanted to see, it's just too bad they have to play in the semifinals instead of the finals. The top two teams in the world take to the pitch tonight inside Olympic Stadium in Montreal with the ultimate chance at glory at stake.

Germany, the top-ranked team in the world, had cruised into the quarterfinals but had to go all the way into penalty kicks to knock off France last week. The French actually led that match late, but Germany was able to get an 84th minute penalty kick tally from Celia Sasic to tie the game and force extra time. Both teams appeared to be exhausted the final third of the match and extra time didn't help either physically. Can the United States take advantage of potential tired German legs later in tonight's match or has the handful of days off allowed these Germany legs to get back under themselves?

The United States has arguably the best goalie in the world in Hope Solo. The Americans also sport one of the best defensive clubs in the world as well. That's been showcased so far in this World Cup as the United States hasn't allowed a single goal since the opening half of its opening match against Australia. The lone tally has been the only blemish against the Americans this entire World Cup, a span of more than 423 minutes, which includes four straight shutouts.

While the loser will still have a chance to play in the third-place match, expect both teams to have a concerted effort to win in regulation time tonight. Germany is obviously good enough to beat the Americans, but with the defense and forwards up from the United States has they've got an excellent chance to advance as well. This shouldn't be a match where a lot of goals are scored, but expect the United States to have some chances up front with Alex Morgan and Abby Wambach, especially if both start the match. Also, do not overlook the solid play from Carli Lloyd, which should continue tonight.

The defense of the Americans will be too much in the end as they pick up a slim one-goal win.
