Major League Baseball Baltimore Orioles at Boston Red Sox Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

The Boston Red Sox welcome in the Baltimore Orioles today in Major League Baseball action. The game is scheduled for a 1:35 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on MLB.tv. Currently the odds for the game have the Red Sox favored to pick up the win in this one at home.

Boston has been skidding all season, now sitting nine games under the .500 mark. Baltimore hasn't had a great season to date either, but at least they have their heads above the water at this point. Both teams are massively underachieving and will need to turn it around quickly in order to remain in the hunt for a post season spot.

The Red Sox will be throwing Eduardo Rodriguez this afternoon. He's 3-1 with a 3.13 ERA on the season as the left-hander has really looked solid for the Red Sox. Outside of a really nasty start against Toronto a couple of weeks ago Rodriguez has been rock solid, allowing just two earned runs in a combined four starts. The poor game was against Toronto, where he gave up nine earned runs in less than five innings.

Back on June 9 Rodriguez earned a no decision while throwing six innings and scattering three hits against these Orioles. He was opposed by today's Baltimore starter Miguel Gonzalez, who made his last start in that game.

Current Red Sox are hitting .257 against him in 136 plate appearances. Hanley Ramirez has homered twice, David Ortiz and Mookie Betts have also gone deep.

The Red Sox looked solid last night in the win, they have to start to get something going. With Rodriguez on the bump today, that gives them a great chance.

Movie Stop the All-Star Game Ballot Stuffing

Pro handicappers Teddy Covers and Steve Fezzik have a bone to pick with MLB Commisioner Bud Selig, who decided the All-Star exhibition game will determine World Series home field advantage. With Royals fans currently voting seven Kansas City players into the starting line up of the American League team, this popularity-based roster of an exhibition game which has way too much impact on the most important baseball series of the year.
