The Los Angeles Angels welcome in the Detroit Tigers in Major League Baseball action tonight. The game is is scheduled for a 10:05 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on MLB Network. Currently the odds for the game have the Angels listed as a decent favorite to pick up the win at home.
Detroit's offense has been insufficient to date this season. The lineup is full of potential mashers that also hit for average, but when it comes to scoring runs the Tigers have come up short consistently. Two straight losses to the Angels, scoring a combined two runs, have been par for the course for Detroit this season.
The Tigers have just 206 runs in 50 games, a little over four runs per average.
Tonight Jered Weaver gets the ball for the Angels, he's been dynamite in home games the last few years, posting a record of 52-20 with an AL-best 2.39 ERA in 97 home starts since 2009. The Tigers have been solid in road games this season, but will have to score some runs against Weaver in order to have a chance at the win. Weaver hasn't pitched against Detroit at home since 2010, but is 1-0 with a 1.38 ERA in his last two meetings with the Tigers.
Weaver lost his first four starts to the season but has regained some of his former self, going 3-0 with a 1.50 ERA in his last four starts. Detroit owns a .232 average against him in 185 plate appearances. Ian Kinsler (who played most of his career in Texas and faced Weaver frequently) has three home runs against him. Miguel Cabrera also has homered.
Detroit sends Shane Greene to the bump. He's 4-3 with a 4.27 ERA in his starts for the Tigers. Road games have been a bit touchy for Greene, who has surrendered 16 earned runs in 25 2/3 innings there. Only Matt Joyce has seen Greene in three at bats, singling once.
Greene needs to have a solid outing to help the Tigers get back on track. They've dropped two straight and are now just six games over the .500 mark. They're only 2.5 games behind Kansas City for first place, but picking up a win tonight ensures they won't be swept by the Angels.
Detroit gets to Weaver just enough, Greene will continue to be solid as well.

NFL Free Pick: Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears
According to professional sports bettor Steve Fezzik, the early bird can catch a profitable worm if they put money down on Green Bay's opening week showing against the Chicago Bears. With the line currently at -4.5 at most Vegas sports books, Fezzik predicts it will move to -6.5 come game day, as no one is going to be betting on the Jay Cutler-helmed Bears, so the money will pour in on Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. With that being the case, time strike early while the iron is hot.
