The Texas Rangers welcome in the Boston Red Sox in Major League Baseball action tonight. The game is is scheduled for a 8:05 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on MLB.tv. Currently the odds for the game have the Rangers listed as a small favorite to pick up the win at home.
Texas and Boston take to the field tonight down in Arlington, a place known for home runs flying out of the yard. Both squads have plenty of players that can blast home runs and tonight that could be a big part of the contest. Each teams are under the .500 mark for the year and while there is plenty of time left in the season, neither team wants to fall too far behind in the race for the division.
The Red Sox have been just 11-14 on the road this season. They'll send Eduardo Rodriguez to the mound to make his first Major League start. Rodriguez is a lefty and will look to become the first Red Sox pitcher to win his first start since Daisuke Matsuzaka back in 2007.
This year Rodriguez was 4-3 at Triple-A Pawtucket and had a pretty solid 2.98 ERA.
Texas will send Nick Martinez to the mound. He's been very good this season, going 4-0 with a 1.96 ERA so far. Texas has won eight of his nine starts this season and Martinez has not yielded more than three earned runs in a single start. Martinez has won two of his four starts in Arlington, but does have a higher ERA of 2.22 in his 24 1/3 innings there this season. Opponents are hitting an average of .250 against him in Arlington as well.
The Red Sox have been too inconsistent on the road and Martinez has shined in his season. That should continue tonight.
