Detroit Tigers at Oakland Athletics Memorial Day Major League Baseball Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

The Oakland Athletics welcome in the Detroit Tigers in Memorial Day Major League Baseball action today. The game is is scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. Currently the odds for the game have the Athletics listed as a small favorite to pick up the win.

Oakland hosts Detroit today in Memorial Day action, a staple in this country every year, which usually transmits us from the spring to summer season. The Tigers are on the road in this one, heading out West for a trip all week to take on teams they normally don't see. Detroit is coming off a four-game split with the Houston Astros this past weekend, which leaves the Tigers still in second place in the American League Central.

The Athletics have not had a great season to date. They're just 16-30, which is the worst mark of any team in the Majors so far this season. Oakland already finds itself 13.5 games out of first place with the Astros leading the division at 29-16. Oakland has won just three of its last 10 games overall.

Detroit has had its struggles as well, but they are looking to get things turned around quickly. The Tigers are 12-7 in road games this year but they need to have someone in addition to Miguel Cabrera that can consistently hit the baseball.

The Tigers send Shane Greene, acquired from the Yankees, to the mound today. He's been a nice addition for the Tigers with a 4-2 record and a 4.05 ERA. He's gone 2-1 in road games this season, but he has been giving up some runs there. Greene, a youngster, has struck out Ben Zobrist twice in three plate appearances for his only history against any of the Athletics. Zobrist is hoping to be activated from the disabled list today.

Oakland will pitch Jesse Hahn, he's 1-4 with a 4.43 ERA this season. Hahn, also a youngster, has been having a tough time on the road this season. In home games he's 0-1 in four starts with an ERA at 3.52 in 23 innings. No Detroit player on the roster has faced Hahn.

The Tigers are the better club here, but they're coming off two straight losses in the split with Houston. Look for them to have a better approach on this West Coast swing. The travel isn't great for them in this spot today, but Greene will lead them to the win.

Free Pick: Detroit

Movie NFL Free Pick: Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears

According to professional sports bettor Steve Fezzik, the early bird can catch a profitable worm if they put money down on Green Bay's opening week showing against the Chicago Bears. With the line currently at -4.5 at most Vegas sports books, Fezzik predicts it will move to -6.5 come game day, as no one is going to be betting on the Jay Cutler-helmed Bears, so the money will pour in on Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. With that being the case, time strike early while the iron is hot.
