Major League Baseball Betting Odds Washington Nationals vs San Diego Padres Free Pick

Saturday night major league baseball and we will see the Washington Nationals travel to Petco Park to take on the San Diego PadresFree pick to follow First pitch is scheduled for a 8:40 PM (Eastern) start time and the game will be televised locally.

Betting Odds

Washington                  -135
San Diego                   +125

Over/ Under: 6.5 O -115

This is game 3 of a 4 game series between these National League foes. The Nationals come in hot as they have won 13 of their last 17 games and are now just a half a game behind the Mets in the NL East. San Diego has not had the kind of start they were hoping for after they spent tons of money in the offsaeason to upgrade their team. The Padres have won just 5 of their last 11 games and are 19-18 overall for the year. Washington ranks 4th in the league in scoring (4.86 rpg), while on the mound they are 12th in ERA (3.79). The Padres rank 9th in scoring (4.57 rpg), while on the mound they are 24th in ERA (4.31).

Trends for this game include: Washington is 7-1 in their last 8 games as a road favorite 27-11 in their last 38 during game 3 of a series and 20-6 in their last 26 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. The Padres have gone 23-9 in their last 32 home games with the total set at 6.5 or lower, but just  5-16 in their last 21 games vs. a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15 and 4-10 in Cashner's last 14 starts during game 3 of a series.

Toeing the rubber for Washington tonight will be Max Scherzer, who is 3-3  on the year, but with a nice 1.99 ERA. Max has goe 1-2 with a 3.41 ERA in 5 career starts, while in this park he is 0-1 with a 3.60 ERA in 2 starts.

Getting the ball for the Padres tonight will be Andrew Cashner who has pitched in some tough luck as he is 1-6 on the year, but with a nice 3.07 ERA. Just no run support for him this year. Andrew is 2-2 with a 3.74 ERA in 9 games (4 starts) vs the Nationals.

Pick: Im going to ride the hot Nationals in this one. Andrew Cashner has pitched well this year, but he is still just 1-6 to start the season as his mates just won't score for him.  Still i feel the Nats have the better starter here with Scherzer who has a nice and tidy 1.99 ERA on the year. The Nats also have the far better offense at the moment as they have averaged 6.9 rpg in their last 10 games, while the Padres have averaged just 3.8 rpg over the same stretch. I just don't see this average Padres taking down the much hotter Nationals, who have the better starter and offense in this game.

MovieMLB: Buying Low on the Indians and the Brewers
Professional sports bettors Steve Fezzik and Teddy Covers look at some possible sleepers in Major League Baseball who have underperformed early in 20156, but have potential to turn it around. One such team is the Cleveland Indians, whose bullpen includes Cy Young winner Corey Kluber, Trevor Bauer and Danny Salazar having slow starts, but plenty of upside. Another team is the Milwaukee Brewers, who seem more apt to perform under new manager Craig Counsell instead of Ron Roenicke.
