Kentucky Derby Odds Longshots Ocho Ocho Ocho

The 141st Run For The Roses is takes place this Saturday at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. The Kentucky Derby official start time is 6:24 pm ET. There are several Long Shots in the event, including Ocho Ocho Ocho, who has been installed as 50/1 Odds to win the Derby.

Ocho Ocho Ocho's Record: 3-0-1 in 5 Races. Trainer: Jim Cassidy. Jockey: Elvis Trujillo. Sire: Street Sense. Dam: Winner. Best Beyer Speed: 90

Ocho Ocho Ocho has drawn the #1 slot, which is not good at all. He is trained by Jim Cassidy who comes in with 325 career wins, including 11 wins this year. Jim got his trainer's license in 1975 and spent the next 10 years learning as an assistant to top trainers on the East Coast including Joe Canty, Frank Whitely and mentor Charles Sanborne. He then headed west and established his own stable in California. No big wins yet for Jim and he has finished in the top 100 in earnings just 4 times in his career.

Riding Ocho Ocho Ocho will be Elvis Trujillo, who has 1997 career wins, including 26 this year so far.  In 2007 he won win his first Breeders Cup mount in the Breeders Cup Filly and Mare Sprint on Maryfield and he owns the leading jockey title at Monmouth Park and Calder Racecourse. Other top mounts include Precious Passion, Luna Vega and Gozzip Girl.

Even though at the top number 1 spot Ocho Ocho Ocho should get out to a solid start and be the early pace setter, but this horse just doesn't have the stamina to sustain that pace though this rather long course. I expect him to start to fade about halfway and finish near the back of the pack in the end.
