MLB Betting Odds St Louis Cardinals vs Washington Nationals Free Pick

Wednesday night baseball and I will have a Free Pick in the game between the St Louis Cardinals and the Washington Nationals, which will be played at Nationals Park. First pitch is scheduled for an 7:05 PM (Eastern) start time and the game will be televised on ESPN.

Betting Odds

St Louis          +110
Washington     -120

Over/ Under: 7 U -115

This is the 2nd game of a 3 game set between these teams. Last night the Cards pounded out 13 hits, but still came up short in a 2-1 loss in 10 innings. The Loss snapped the Cards 5 game win streak and drops them to 8-4 on the year. Washington comes in having won 5 of their last 6 games, but overall they are just 7-7 on the year. A far cry from where they were expected to be out the gate

The Cards come in ranked 22nd in scoring (3.67 rpg), 8th in hitting (.260) and 30th in homers (6), while on the mound they are 1st in ERA (1.90) and 3rd in WHIP (1.07). St Louis has gone 16-6 the last 22 games in this series, but they are also 0-5 in Lackeys last 5 road starts. The Over has gone 5-2 in their last 6 road games vs. a team with a winning home record, while the Under has gone 34-14-4 in their last 51 vs. the NL East.

The Nationals come in ranked 20th in scoring (3.93 rpg), 22nd in hitting (.226) and 9th in homers (15), while on the mound they are 3rd in ERA (2.80) and 15th in WHIP (1.27). Washington has gone 13-4 in their last 16 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600 and 10-2 in Fister's last 12 home starts. The Over is 6-2-1 in their last 8 overall, while the Under is 8-2 in Fister's last 10 starts vs. a team with a winning record.

Getting the ball tonight for St Louis tonight will be John Lackey, who is 1-0 with a 2.77 ERA and an 0.92 WHIP through 2 starts this year. John has faced the Nationals just twice in his carer and he is 1-0 with a 3.21 ERA in those starts.

Getting the ball for the Nationals tonight will be Doug Fister, who has gone 1-0 with an 0.69 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP through his first 2 starts of the year. Doug has faced the Cards just once in his career and he is 0-1 with a 6.00 ERA in that start. Doug is 9-3 with a 1.97 ERA in 14 career starts in this park.

Pick: Going with the Under in this game. These teams pounded out 23 hits last night and there were 3 errors in the game as well, but just 3 runs were scored in the game. I see another pitcher's duel tonight, but without all the hits that were piled up last night. John Lackeys has started of the year vs solid as he has a 2.77 ERA and an 0.92 WHIP in 2 starts. He won't let many men on base here. Doug Fister is also off to solid start with an 0.69 ERA in 2 starts and he has pitched very well in this park as a member of the Nationals, posting a 1.69 ERA in 12 starts for them here. Both starters are off to excellent starts and I can't see these mediocre offenses getting all the hits they did last night. This game should be a true pitcher's duel. I look for 4 maybe 5 runs in this one.
