The Tampa Bay Lightning and Detroit Red Wings take to the ice again tonight in an NHL Playoffs Game 3 matchup. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on NBC Sports Network. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Red Wings favored at home to pick up the critical second win in the series.
Mike Babcock and the Red Wings came home from Florida with a 1-1 split, but they didn't look good in Game 2. In all seriousness they weren't that good in Game 1 either, getting out-shot by 32 Lightning attempts despite winning the game. Tampa goalie Ben Bishop faced only 14 shots on the night and the Red Wings capitalized on three of them, but they looked a step slow in the second game, a 5-1 Lightning win.
But with how good the Lightning were in home games this season, they had the best record on home ice during the regular season at 32-8-1, the Red Wings have to be pleased. Babcock's team has to be even more excited with their chance to take a lead in this series, too. The Red Wings were a solid home team this year, finishing with the fifth-best mark in the Eastern Conference. Tampa Bay, on the other hand, was not a good team away from their own building at 18-16-7, but none of that really matters in the post season.
Petr Mrazek will be in between the pipes again for Detroit. He struggled in Game 2 of the series, but will have to come up big in tonight's game. The Red Wings are in need of a solid performance from their goalie against a Tampa Bay team that will be bringing a ton of offensive heat again.
Detroit gets the win here tonight on their home ice. This will be a well-played game by both teams with the Red Wings being able to capitalize from being in their own building.
