The Ottawa Senators and Montreal Canadiens meet up tonight in Game 2 of their NHL Playoff series. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on CNBC. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Canadiens favored to pick up the victory.
Montreal won the first game in this series, a 4-3 win that saw a lot of offensive firepower. The Canadiens could be without P.K. Subban, but no announcement was made regarding a potential suspension. Subban slashed Mark Stone in the opening game of the series, breaking a bone in his wrist. Ottawa has done a nice job of keeping the talks low and about the series in regards to the Subban problem, but best believe the Senators are going to be gunning for him tonight and for the rest of the series.
Ottawa finished the first game with 44 hits on Montreal players and this should continue to be a physical series. The Senators were able to take advantage with the power play in the opening game, scoring twice in Subban's five-minute major time in the box. Without Montreal playing poorly between the ears the Canadiens probably would have had a much easier win.
Montreal has been very tough to beat at home, going 26-9-6 during the regular season. Ottawa's decent 20-13-8 record on the road this year along with playing well at times during the opening game have to give them some confidence in this one. But will they spend too much time focusing on getting back at Subban from a personal standpoint and not keep their heads in the right spot?
The Canadiens earn a win here, taking a two-game lead in the series and holding home ice advantage.
