The Washington Nationals are the overwhelming favorites in the 2015 Major League Baseball National League East Odds. Washington is the most talented team in the division by a mile, is fully loaded and looking to make a run at the World Series.

Outside of the Washington Nationals, what team in the National League East is worth anything? They are the clear-cut favorites and could be the only team in the division that finishes above the .500 mark — so let that sink in just a little bit.

Washington Nationals -500

The -500 mark tells you all you need to know about this division. The Nationals didn’t lose much from last year’s team, a squad that won 96 games. With the addition of Max Scherzer, the Nationals now have six legitimate starters that make up the best rotation in baseball. Stephen Strasburg, Jordan Zimmerman, Gio Gonzalez and Doug Fister make up the other starting five, but where are they going to fit in Tanner Roark, the youngster who showed promise last season? The lineup is full of solid hitters as well and the bullpen is going to be a positive for the Nats. Matt Williams has a group loaded to contend for a World Series this season and they should have no problems breezing through this division.

New York Mets +600

Surprisingly enough, the Mets won 79 games last season. This year they add Michael Cuddyer to a lineup that needs some consistent hitting outside of David Wright. Matt Harvey returns to the starting rotation this year after missing last year with injury, but Zack Wheeler just went down with Tommy John surgery himself. Bartolo Colon is still pitching in his old age but his veteran presence could help this team get better. Why not, right?

Miami Marlins +650

Miami has a lot of roster turnover this season, with several departures. They bring in some solid talent as well, including Dee Gordon, Dan Haren, Mat Latos, Michael Morse and Martin Prado. Those leaving aren’t as good as the ones coming in, so Miami has a chance to be better this season. They also have two of the best players in the division in Marcell Ozuna and Giancarlo Stanton, the $300-million man. A healthy Jose Fernandez could mean the difference between the Marlins having a successful season or not.

Atlanta Braves +3500

The Braves were a pretty solid team not that long ago. From 2010 through 2013 the Braves won at least 89 games a season and three times eclipsed 90 wins during that time. Then, last year they dipped below the .500 mark and lost some of their best talent. Outside of Freddie Freeman there really isn’t a threatening hitter in the lineup that will consistently be solid for the Braves, so they are going to have to do the little things in order to win. The rotation isn’t bad, the bullpen is solid and pitching alone will be the key with Atlanta.

Philadelphia Phillies +10000

Yes, the Phillies are 100/1 to win the division. They are that bad, but just how they got that bad seems like a tough one to answer. They have Cliff Lee and Cole Hamels, bloating contracts like Chase Utley and Ryan Howard and they aren’t going to win a ton of games. This is not going to be a good year for Philadelphia.
