College Basketball Betting Odds Vanderbilt Commordores vs Stanford Cardinal Free Pick

Tuesday night college basketball and we will see the Vanderbilt Commodores travel to Maples Pavilion to take on the Stanford Cardinal in the quarterfinals of the NIT Tournament. The game has a start time of 9:00 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on ESPN. Current Vegas betting odds have the Cardinal listed as 3 point favorites, while the total is set at 149

Analysis:  The Vanderbilt Commodores had a decent year, but it just wasn't enough to get them into the Big Dance. Vandy did with their last 5 regular season games, but lost in their first game in the SEC Tournament to Tennessee. Now they have started their quest for the NIT Tournament by winning their first two games over St Mary's and South Dakota State. Overall Vandy is now 21-13 on the year, but just 5-7 on the road. Vandy has gone 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record and 24-9 ATS in their last 33 Tuesday games. The Commodores have been a decent offensive team this year, ranking 93rd in scoring (70.5 ppg), 30th in shooting (47.4%), 29th in 3 point shooting (38.8%) and 122nd in FT shooting (70.5%). The defense for this team has been decent this year, ranking 101st in points allowed (63.9 ppg), 69th in defensive FG% (40.4%) and 157th in 3 point defense (33.9%).

The Stanford Cardinal had not played all that well down the stretch losing 4 of their final 5 games, but they have started to play better in the NIT Tournament as they now have wins over UC Davis and Rhode Island to move on to the quarterfinals. For the year the Cardinal is now 21-13 overall, including 15-3 at home. Stanford has gone 6-0 ATS in their last 6 non-conference games, but just 1-5 ATS in their last 6 vs. the SEC. The Cardinal have been a very good offensive team this year, as they come in ranked 53rd in scoring (72.5 ppg), 174th in shooting (43.5%), 48th in 3 point shooting (38.0%) and 66th in FT shooting (72.4%). Defensively the Cardinal has been not that good this year, ranking 199th in points allowed (67.4 ppg), 171st in defensive FG% (42.8%) and 320th in 3 point defense (37.7%).

Pick: Going with the Under here. The Cardinal has not been great on defense this year, but they have played very good defense at home, where they have allowed just 60.8 ppg on the year. Vanderbilt has not been a bad defensive team this year and has allowed just 63.9 ppg overall and just 65.6 ppg on the road. Yes the new shot clock rules have created more possessions for these teams this year, but I still see this game having a it more defense than offense.
