Oregon Ducks vs Wisconsin Badgers NCAA Tournament Pick, Odds

Tonight the Oregon Ducks will do battle with the Wisconsin Badgers at CenturyLink Center Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska in the 3rd round of the NCAA Tournament. The game has a start time of 7:45 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on TruTv. Current Vegas betting odds have the Badgers listed as 12 point favorites, while the total is set at 143.

Analysis: The Oregon Ducks come in hot as they have won 12 of their last 14 games, which includes a very hard fought 79-73 win over Oklahoma State on Friday. Oregon is now 26-9 overall, which includes a 4-3 mark in neutral site games. Oregon has gone 20-9-1 ATS in their last 30 non-conference games and 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games following a S.U. win. The Ducks have been a strong offensive team this year, ranking 26th in scoring (75.7 ppg), 50th in shooting (46.4%), 94th in 3 point shooting (36.1%) and 12th in FT shooting (76.1%). The defense for this team has not been very good this year as they come in ranked 286th in points allowed (70.8 ppg), 128th in defensive FG% (42.2%) and 116th in 3 point defense (33.0%).

The Wisconsin Badgers had another very nice year in the Big 10 as they won both the regular season and the tournament titles. The Badgers have now gone 32-3 for the year, which includes a perfect 7-0 mark on neutral courts and an 86-72 win over Coastal Carolina on Friday. Wisconsin has gone 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 NCAA Tournament games and 19-6-1 ATS in their last 26 non-conference games. The Badgers have been a good offensive team this year, ranking 58th in scoring (72.3 ppg), 17th in shooting (48.2%), 99th in 3 point shooting (35.9%) and 11th in FT shooting (76.3%). The defense for this team has been excellent this year, ranking 9th in points allowed (56.6 ppg), 121st in defensive FG% (42.1%) and 289th in 3 point defense (36.6%).

Pick:  Going with the Under here. The Badgers have the ability to get out and run with teams, but this is a game they will look to keep the pace slow in. The Badgers are a very good defensive team and just allowed Coastal Carolina to put up 72 points on them, so I look for the Badgers to really clamp down defensively here. They do allow just 56.6 pp on the year and should be able to slow down the Oregon offense in this one. For the Badgers they are good on offense and very efficient, while the Ducks are a soft defensive team, but I really do look for the Badgers to slow the game down. which should also keep their scoring down. I see this one in the mid 130s at most.
