The Northwestern Wildcats take on the Indiana Hoosiers tonight in the Big Ten Tournament. The game is scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN2. Currently the College Basketball Betting Odds for the game have the Hoosiers favored to pick up the win.

Indiana is stuck in a pretty simple situation. If they win against Northwestern today, they’re still fighting to get into the NCAA Tournament. If the Hoosiers lose today, they can absolutely start thinking about the NIT. The Hoosiers finished with a record of 19-12 during the regular season, but the Hoosiers dropped a couple of games that they needed to win. Indiana was swept by Purdue this year and lost at Northwestern, coupled with a defeat at home in the beginning of the season to Eastern Washington.

Northwestern has picked up wins in five of the last seven games overall, despite dropping two games on the road to Illinois and Iowa. The Wildcats aren’t going to be playing in the post season unless they find a way to win the conference tournament. 

This Northwestern team is playing pretty solid the last few weeks, but Indiana is in must-win mode. While the Hoosiers may believe their brand name will get them into the tournament on merit alone, they need to win at least a game to stay in the discussion for one of the last team’s into the dance. 

A loss here to Northwestern would be just brutal for Tom Crean’s team. Look for them to play inspired basketball with Yogi Ferrell leading the way. An Indiana win keeps the dream alive.
