The Georgetown Hoyas are on the road today in Big East College Basketball action when they take on the St. John's Red Storm. The game is scheduled for a noon start time and it will be televised nationally on CBS. Currently the College Basketball Betting Odds for the game have the Hoyas listed as a road favorite to get the win.
Georgetown has picked up three straight wins in conference action after dropping back-to-back games to Providence and Villanova to open the month. John Thompson III's squad has been solid all season and the Hoyas currently sit in second place in the Big East with Butler. Villanova still holds the advantage in league play with a three-game cushion with time running out.
St. John's comes in a couple of spots below Georgetown in the conference standings, making this a very important game for seeding in the conference tournament. The Red Storm have picked up wins in five of their last six games overall, the one loss coming to Georgetown by 22 points the last time out. The Hoyas dominated from the opening tip in that game. St. John's was able to rebound from the beatdown road loss, picking up consecutive wins on their own floor.
In today comes Georgetown looking to pick up a tough road win. The Red Storm have looked nice in home games this season and they will need the stars to show up in today's game. D'Angelo Harrison has been one of the best players in the conference all year and he comes into tonight's game averaging 18.4 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. Sir'Dominic Pointer adds nearly 14 points and eight rebounds per game as well. Against Georgetown earlier this season the Red Storm shot less than 33 percent from the floor and gave up 46 second-half points to Georgetown.
All five Hoyas scored in double digits in the 79-59 win over St. John's, four of which had 12 points while Mikael Hopkins added a dozen off the bench as well. Joshua Smith and D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera have been the important guys for the Hoyas this season and a win here today over St. John's would be huge.
Both teams should make the NCAA Tournament no matter what happens in this one and St. John's has a nice revenge angle. Look for the Red Storm to find a way.
