College Basketball Betting Odds West Virginia Mountaineers vs Baylor Bears Free Pick

Saturday college basketball and we will see the West Virginia Mountaineers travel to the Ferrell Center to take on the Baylor Bears. The game has a start time of 4:00 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on ESPN U. Current Vegas betting odds have the Bears listed as 5.5 point favorites, while the total is set at 138.

Analysis:  The West Virginia Mountaineers come in playing some good ball right now as they have won 3 games in a row, which includes a home wins over Kansas and Texas and a road win over Oklahoma State. The Mountaineers are now a very solid 22-6 on the year overall, which includes marks of 10-5 in the Big 12 and 5-3 in true road games. The Mountaineers have gone 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games following a S.U. win, but just 1-4 ATS the last 5 in the series. The Mountaineers have been a good offensive squad this year, ranking 34th in scoring (74.3 ppg), 287th in shooting (41.1%), 296th in 3 point shooting (31.1%) and 290th in FT shooting (65.8%). The defense for this team has been rather average, ranking 147th in points allowed (65.5 ppg), 324th in defensive FG% (46.5%) and 293rd in 3 point defense (36.8%).

The Baylor Bears have also won 3 games in a row, including a very nice 79-70 road win over Iowa State on Wednesday night. The wins now put Baylor at 21-7 overall and 9-6 in the Big 12, while at home this year they have gone a very strong 14-2 so far. Baylor has gone 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 Saturday games, but just 6-15 ATS in their last 21 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of greater than .600. The Bears have been a decent offensive team this year, ranking 121st in scoring (69.5 ppg), 187th in shooting (43.3%), 49th in 3 point shooting (38.1%) and 266th in FT shooting (66.4%). Defensively the Bears have been very good as they come in ranked 22nd in points allowed (59.2 ppg), 38th in defensive FG% (39.5%) and 10th in 3 point defense (28.7%).

Pick: Going with the Under in this one. I know both teams can score plenty, but this is still too high a line for a Baylor home game where their games have averaged just 127.8 ppg, while WVU road games have averaged just 130.8 ppg. Even recent games shows that Baylor's last 5 games overall have averaged just 128 ppg and that includes the 149 points theat was scored in theri last game, which was vs Iowa State, Baylor allows just 55.9 ppg at home, while the Mountaineers have allowed just 65.6 ppg on the road. 68-62 sounds about right here.
