Saturday college Basketball and we will see the Clemson Tigers travel to the Cameron Indoor Stadium to take on the Duke Blue Devils. The game has a start time of 4:00 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on ESPN. Current Vegas betting odds have Duke listed as 15.5 point favorites, while the total is set at 131.
Analysis: The Clemson Tigers come into this game struggling a bit as they have won just 1 of their last 4 games, which includes an 11 point road loss to Georgia Tech in their last game. The Tigers are now 15-11 on the year overall, including 7-7 in the ACC. The Tigers have gone 13-3-1 ATS in their last 17 Saturday games and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600. Clemson has not been a good offensive team this year, as they come in ranked 294th in scoring (62.2 ppg), 286th in shooting (41.0%), 317th in 3 point shooting (30.2%) and 276th in FT shooting (66.1%). Defensively the Tigers have been very good, ranking 36th in points allowed (60.1 ppg), 37th in defensive FG% (39.2%) and 84th in 3 point defense (32.1%).
The Duke Blue Devils come in off a classic game vs instate rival north Carolina, in which they won 92-90 in OT. Duke is now 22-3 on the year, which includes marks of 10-3 within the ACC and 12-1 at home. Duke has gone 12-3-1 ATS in their last 16 Saturday games, but just 1-6-1 ATS in their last 8 home games vs. a team with a losing road record. Duke has been a very good offensive team, as they come in ranked 5th in scoring (80.7 ppg), 5th in shooting (49.7%), 3rd in 3 point shooting (38.8%) and 178th in FT shooting (69.0%). Defensively the Blue Devils have been average, ranking 163rd in points allowed (65.9 ppg), 180th in defensive FG% (43.0%) and 76th in 3 point defense (31.9%).
Pick: Going with the under in this game. I know that Duke is off a very high scoring game vs North Carolina, but they will be playing a much slower paced team in this one vs a team that plays much better defense than the Heels have. Duke does average 88.1 ppg at home, but they won't come close to that here vs a Clemson defense that has allowed just 60.6 ppg on the road including just 57.8 ppg in their last 4 ACC road games. Duke has been decent on defense at home, allowing just 65.3 ppg, while the Tigers can't score a lick on the road, putting up just 54.6 ppg away from home this year so far. Hard to see more than 125 points scored in this one.
