Thursday night college basketball and we will see the Utah Utes travel to Pauley Pavilion to take on the UCLA Bruins. The game has a start time of 10:00 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on ESPN 2. Current Vegas betting odds have Utah listed as 5.5 point favorites, while the total is set at 132.  

Analysis:  The Utah Utes come in having won 9 of their last 10 games and are ranked 11th in the nation with a 16-3 record. Utah is tied atop the Pac-12 standings with Arizona at 6-1, but they are just 2-2 in true road games. Utah has gone 36-13-2 ATS in their last 51 games overall and 39-16-1 ATS in their last 56 vs. the Pac-12. The Utes have been a solid offensive team this year, ranking 35th in scoring (75.1 ppg), 6th in shooting (49.9%), 5th in 3 point shooting (41.7%) and 200th in FT shooting (68.2%). Defensively the Utes have been very good as they come in ranked 12th in points allowed (56.5 ppg), 19th in defensive FG% (37.9%) and 198th in 3 point defense (33.9%).     

The UCLA Bruins come in off BB road losses to the two Oregon schools. The Bruins are now 11-9 on the year, which includes marks of 3-4 in the Pac-12 and 9-1 at home so far this year. UCLA has gone 5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games following three or more consecutive road games, but just 2-11 ATS in their last 13 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600. The Bruins have been a good offensive team this year, ranking 85th in scoring (72.0 ppg), 256th in shooting (41.9%), 163rd in 3 point shooting (34.5%) and 304th in FT shooting (64.7%). Defensively the Bruins have not been good at all, ranking 276th in points allowed (70.1 ppg), 147th in defensive FG% (41.9%) and 260th in 3 point defense (35.7%). 

Pick: I will look to the Over in this game. These teams met earlier in the year and UCLA scored just 39 points in that game and scoring has been a problem for this team on the road, but at home it has not been as they have averaged 83.9 ppg on this floor this year. I know that Utah has played excellent defense this year, but they will not hold UCLA down like thy did in the first meeting. Utah has struggled to score on the road at times, but UCLA is not a very good defensive team as they have allowed 68.7 ppg at home and 69.8 ppg in their last 5 games overall. Pac-12 games have been higher scoring of late and I expect this one to follow suit, especially since the game is at Pauley Pavilion, where UCLA games have averaged 152.6 ppg on the year.
