Big Ten College Basketball Minnesota Golden Gophers at Nebraska Cornhuskers Start Time, Odds, Pick

The Nebraska Cornhuskers and Minnesota Golden Gophers meet up tonight in Big Ten College Basketball action. The game is scheduled for an 8:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on the Big Ten Network. Currently the odds for the game have the Cornhuskers favored by a slim margin in this one at home.

Nebraska is one of the most disappointing teams in America. The Cornhuskers opened the season ranked inside the Top 25 nationally, but they have stumbled to a 10-7 record to this point. Tonight they welcome in a Minnesota team still looking to figure out its identity, but they have 12 wins on the season.

The Golden Gophers are only 1-5 in Big Ten play, though. They score points, shoot the basketball well but can't seem to get it done when playing in the conference games. To be fair Minnesota has already played (and lost) at Purdue, at Maryland and at Michigan, but also has home defeats to Ohio State and Iowa by a combined four points. The Golden Gophers seem to be better than their record indicates, but they have to be able to find a way to get it done and get a win in the right column.

Tonight should be a good battle. Nebraska's got two of the best scorers in the conference in Terran Petteway (19.4 points) and Shavon Shields (16.5 points). They each rank inside the Top 10 for the conference as an individual and could have good games tonight on their own floor.

Minnesota's top scorer, Andre Hollins, pours in 13.4 points per game while Carlos Morris adds 13.2 per contest as well. Maurice Walker provides the Golden Gophers with an additional double-digit scorer that could be the difference tonight in what should be a close game.

Nebraska has won seven of their 10 games at home this year with conference wins over Rutgers and Illinois. Minnesota hasn't played much on the road and when they have, they've struggled.
