The Florida State Seminoles and Clemson Tigers meet up tonight in ACC College Basketball action. The game is scheduled for a 9:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on ESPNu. Currently the odds for the game have the Tigers favored at home to pick up a victory.
Both Clemson and Florida State have been poor this season, but the Tigers still have the potential to be a decent team in the ACC. A win here tonight over Florida State could catapult the Tigers into some wins as the next handful of games are winnable.
Clemson doesn't score a lot of points, but they also hold opponents (for the most part) at a low-level of points as well, which can make for some close contests. The Tigers score an average of only 63.5 points per game, which ranks 279th nationally. Defensively, though, opponents are scoring just 61.9 points. Clemson just beat Syracuse at home on Saturday and they're looking to pick up another home win tonight over a Seminoles team that is just 9-9 on the season. Clemson has won seven of the team's 10 games at home, with one loss to North Carolina.
Florida State limps into tonight's game with three straight losses and four of their last five games overall. The ACC has proven tough for the Seminoles, but also has playing on the road. So far this year Florida State has yet to win on the road, losing all five times. Three of those defeats came in the ACC to Notre Dame, Syracuse and Pitt. That doesn't bode well for them on the road again tonight.
The Seminoles have struggled since the loss of Aaron Thomas and have gotten inconsistent play. Montay Brandon is a nice option for them on the interior, but it will be tough tonight against a Clemson team that is pretty solid down on the blocks. The Tigers don't have a First Team All-ACC type of player down there, but Clemson is going to be good enough down there. Jaron Blossomgame is a very nice stretch forward for the Tigers that can knock down big shots and he'll have a big game tonight.
Look for Clemson to find a way to win the rebounding battle, take advantage of Florida State miscues and pick up a win here.
