Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl Ole Miss Rebels vs TCU Horned Frogs Start Time, Betting Odds, Free Pick

The New Year's Six begins today in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl as the Ole Miss Rebels take on the TCU Horned Frogs in a battle of Top Ten teams. The game is scheduled for a 12:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Horned Frogs favored by about a field goal to pick up the win.

This should certainly be a fun one to watch. TCU appeared to be unstoppable for most of the season and has the biggest beef with the new college football playoff selection. The Horned Frogs were third in the second to last poll, but were dropped all the way down to No. 9 despite winning by 52 points against Iowa State. Now TCU has an axe to grind, but doing it against a team like Ole Miss will be difficult.

The Rebels were in the Top 3 nationally before dropping two straight to LSU and Auburn before ultimately being decimated by Arkansas. Ole Miss has had arguably the best defense in college football all season, allowing just under 14 points per game and playing with a physical style that is warranted in the SEC.

Only San Jose State allowed fewer touchdown passes (six) than the Rebels' eight this year, which could make for a tough day on TCU QB Trevone Boykin, who finished with 30 touchdowns through the air. TCU has several good options on offense, but playing in the Big 12 has not fully prepared them for the physical game that Ole Miss is going to bring here today. That's not to say they won't be able to score points or move the football, but it won't be like playing in their conference against poor defenses.

Ole Miss will look for Bo Wallace to have a solid game. The Rebels love throwing the football (much like TCU) and Wallace connected for 22 touchdowns this year, but also threw 11 picks. The Rebels scored points this season, but that was tough to come by against elite competition. They did score 23 against Alabama, 31 against Auburn and Mississippi State this year, though. Balance will be key in this one, because TCU has a pretty solid defense as well.

But how much will TCU be ready to go in this one? They have to feel slighted they were left out of the playoff, but are they angry and wanting to prove they belong? Taking on an SEC team that was consistently ranked in the Top 10 this year could be a good measuring stick.

Expect a great one here, with Ole Miss playing very well.

Free Pick: Ole Miss 34, TCU 31
