The New Orleans Saints are on the road tonight to take on the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football. The game is scheduled for an 8:25 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. Currently the odds for the game have the Saints favored to pick up this important win.
New Orleans could really use a win in this one. The Saints (and Bears) have both had subpar seasons but only New Orleans has a shot at the playoffs this year. They currently sit behind the Carolina Panthers (really) in the NFC South, but a win here would propel them back into first place. Even if they are to win each of their remaining three games it'll only put New Orleans at 8-8 for the year, but winning the division would give them a home game in the first round of the playoffs.
The Saints still have to play Atlanta and Tampa Bay to end the season, both winnable games.
Chicago has been a mess all season despite having one of the most talented teams in the league. Brandon Marshall will miss the remainder of the season, though, and now Jay Cutler is without his biggest weapon at wide receiver. Having Alshon Jeffery isn't a bad backup as the youngster has already blossomed into one of the best receivers in the league. He's big, knows how to control his body and doesn't have a problem going up and snagging the ball out of the air. Expect him to get a lot of targets in this game tonight.
The Bears also have a valuable weapon in Matt Forte coming out of the backfield. The Saints are not a good defensive team this season, giving Chicago a chance to put up some points and move the football regularly. It's going to be cold and miserable, giving Chicago an advantage.
Drew Brees should be able to throw the football against Chicago. The Bears have one of the worst secondary in the league in giving up tons of yards through the air, surrendering 266 yards to opponents per game. Brees and the Saints know they need a win in this game, so execution is a must.
Neither team has been good at home/away from home, as each team has picked up two wins in this situation. The Saints are better, can still find a way into the playoffs and are going to pick up a win in this one tonight.
