NFL Week 14 and the Houston Texans will travel to EverBank Field to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars. The game has a start time of 1:00 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on CBS. Current Vegas odds have Houston listed as 5.5 point favorites, while the total is set at 42.
Analysis: The Houston Texans come in to this game off a solid 45-21 win over Tennessee. Still the Texans are just 6-6 on the year and have won just 3 of their last 8 games. The Texans are 8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 games following a SU win of more than 14 points, but just 3-7 ATS in their last 10 vs. AFC South and 2-12 ATS in their last 14 games following a ATS win. The Texans have been an average offensive team this year, ranking 14th in total yards, 23rd in passing, 4th in rushing and 13th in scoring (23.9 ppg). The Defense for the Texans comes in ranked 27th in total yards allowed, 30th vs the pass, 16th vs the run and 11th in points allowed (20.6 ppg).
For the Jaguars they are in the midst of another rough season as they come in at 2-10 on the year, which includes a 2-4 mark at home. Last week they did have a nice win, coming back from 21 down to beat the Giants 25-24. The Jaguars are 7-3-1 ATS in their last 11 games in Week 14, but just 3-10-1 ATS in their last 14 games following a S.U. win and 2-7-2 ATS in their last 11 vs. AFC. The Jacksonville offense has been bad this year, ranking 31st in total yards, 28th in passing, 23rd in rushing and 31st in scoring (15.5 ppg). The defense has been bad as well, ranking 28th in yards allowed, 24th vs the pass, 26th vs the run and 28th in points allowed (27.4 ppg)
Pick: Gonna go with the Texans here, who still have a shot at the playoffs, while the Jags are really playing for next year. The Jags are off a nice come from behind win over the Giants and the last win they had hey went out an lost by 14 points at home to Miami. The Jags have lost 9 of their 10 games this year by 9 or more points and Houston is off a big 24 point win over Tennessee and all 6 of their wins have been by 6 points or more, with 5 of them being by DD. We note that the Road team is 4-1-1 the last 6 in this series, while the Jags are just 3-10-1 ATS in their last 14 games following a S.U. win. I look for another DD win here from the more desperate Texans squad.
