The third-ranked TCU Horned Frogs look to cement their position in the college football playoff with a win over the Iowa State Cyclones. The game is scheduled for a noon start time and it will be televised live on ABC. Currently the odds for the game have the Horned Frogs favored by nearly five touchdowns.
TCU cannot afford to look bad in this game. They're taking on a poor Iowa State team and should be favored by as many points as they are laying in this one. Iowa State has struggled all season and it won't get any better in this one. The Cyclones are 0-8 in the Big 12 this season and their only two wins came over Iowa and Toledo.
The Horned Frogs have been one of the best teams in the country this season and if they hadn't blown a three-touchdown lead to Baylor back in October, would probably be ranked No. 1 in the country at 11-0. But the loss hasn't changed their potential spot in the playoff as TCU is ranked third and a win here should all but guarantee them a spot.
The Frogs pile up the yards, score 46 points per game and have a defense that is giving up just 22 points per game in a high-scoring league.
Treyvone Boykin has accounted for nearly 4,00 yards of total offense and 34 touchdowns. Since losing to Baylor the Frogs have put up 46 points per game on average, winning all six games. They had no problems scoring in that game against Baylor either, posting 58.
The defense, though, has played better as they've held opponents to just 21 points per game.
TCU has to drill Iowa State. If they let the Cyclones hang around and the Frogs look bad, even in a win, it can't help their case. Coming out and plowing over them is the only option if Gary Patterson and the Frogs have in this one. Expect is to happen.
